Good old carpets – keeping us warm, decorating our houses and storing dust. Yes, you heard that right, carpets store dust.
All the dirty feet, shoes, droppings and numerous dust trails accumulating from windows make it dirty.
Not to worry – here is what you can do to make your carpet squeaky clean.
If you regularly vacuum your carpet, there will be less chances of dust accumulation.
2. Carpet Cleaners
There are a lot of good carpet cleaners in the market. Get a cleaner and start rubbing it with the help of a white cloth. Do not rub very roughly, as the stain can make its impact deeper into the carpet fabric.
If you are not an expert in cleaning carpets, you can face certain problems. The most common problem is the nature of the carpet with carpet cleaner. Carpets are made from different fabrics and carpet cleaners can be weak or strong, either not working at all or removing the dye out of the fabric. Use them with caution.
Once you have gently rubbed the carpet with a white cloth, let it dry. Dryness is best achieved through ventilation. Keep the place airy. Also, see if any soap is left on the carpet as it will only attract dirt to cover a larger stain- remove it by blotting/dabbing the area.
Only dab the part with the stain, so that your carpet becomes flawlessly clean. Rinse the parts with the stain with water afterwards (and not the whole carpet as it may make the mold grow).
3. Carpet Stain Removal
Take a look at some DIY carpet stain removal methods:
Removal of Pet Stains
To remove common pet stains, get vinegar and warm water. Apply it to get rid of stains. If you are worried about the odor, use a little bit of baking soda with lemon essential oils.
Water, Vinegar and Iron
Get a solution of water and vinegar and spray it along the stained surface. Get a washing cloth over the sprayed stains and apply the iron afterwards. The affected area should be ironed at a higher steam.
Sometimes a nasty finger cut stains your carpet. Use your saliva (I know it might seem gross, but it works) to remove the blood. Directly spit at the affected part and watch the magic.
Vinegar + Baking Soda
When combined, both of them will do a good job of removing stains from your carpet. Try them out!
The Magic of Hydrogen Peroxide
Make a solution by pouring 1/3 part hydrogen peroxide with 2/3 parts of water. Now add some drops of lemon essential oils and apply the solution on carpet stains.
Not only will the stains be removed, but your house will start to smell good, too!
Homemade Carpet Cleaner
You can pretty much make a customized carpet cleaner yourself, if you know the basic ingredients. Get vinegar, ammonia, some foaming soap and some dish soap.
Mix them up to make a homemade carpet cleaner.
